Acer 1820PTZ Boot-up and tablet transformation

The Acer Aspire 1820PTZ convertible tablet PC booting up into WIndows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. I also show how this 11.6″ CULV (SU4100) machine goes from a notebook to a tablet in seconds. The built-in accelerometer rotates the desktop to fit the screen orientation. See my mini-review here: forums.vr-zone.com

    @gruuthuse There isn’t any weird thing! My windows 7 starts up about 3 minutes with intel core I7 (4 cores, 8 logical processor) and 1,6 gigahertz! RAM is 4 gigabyte and windows 7 so slow! My Vista on this laptop starts up about 30-50 sec. Ms sucks!

  2. FatAssassin3 says:

    Can someone answer asap does this have a disk drive? If so this is the best laptop/tablet I have ever seen.

  3. FreddieVahnity says:

    Someone help, my niece played around with mine and now the touch screen won’t work?

  4. Dreamfullofzen says:

    was a slow boot up, but that could be fixed by removing the extra stuff running he background (all the acer bloatware) and running a decent anti virus like avast. Looks very cool! I might have to snag one.

  5. thatshot3000 says:

    is this out in the US?

  6. SuperFunkyAfroNinja says:

    @KaBu312 Prefer to pay for someones hard work, but thanks anyway

  9. excalibur1814 says:

    @gruuthuse If its fresh then it probably has so much bloatware it hurts. A 5200rpm etc drive won’t help much

  10. Dreadzedan says:

    @gruuthuse

    think this, bad i saw this guy with a net book that took like, im not kidding 4-5 mins to boot vista,that was funny.he can proly shave of some boot time with this boot time with some settings in windows 7 though.

  11. Naunaud128 says:

    @gruuthuse And there comes the use of deep sleep…

  12. ShynePoe33 says:

    @Dance4life080808 might be the configuration…

  13. ShynePoe33 says:

    @denosha I think it’s more the HDD’S fault than the CPU’s…

  14. foxhound6364 says:

    @gruuthuse Plus, Windows 7 has, by default a fairly slow boot up. You can probably shave about 20 seconds off of that time, if you mess around with it a bit.

  15. denosha says:

    @gruuthuse
    Well, it is only a 1.3ghz Pentium dual core processor. Still faster than a netbook though.

  16. gruuthuse says:

    very nive toy but why does it take so long to start up? I have a 6 year old laptop with win7 that starts up in half that time …weird.

  28. FaceMeetsBullet says:

    I thumbed up just for creed…then favorite because I liked it

  29. greenrolaids says:

    but in your case it looks like its just the viewing angle that is causing the brightness at the bottom when you first booted.

    I think i am going to pick one of these up next week.

  30. greenrolaids says:

    @carlosita91

    laptops have a long thin cathode light to backlight the screen. Sometimes in laptops the light is visible around the frames of the laptops most often its the bottom or the top where the faint glow can show up..

    Its annoying to some, especially when you watch a movie with the lights off.

  31. TheAsa92 says:

    @sevensilver1 thank you so much , am getting it for free too :) , so the price isn’t really a problem , got lucky , am gonna go for the HD5740 at least .. even if it costs me a Core i3 .

  32. sevensilver1 says:

    @TheAsa92 The temperature? It’s fine on my machine. I have had it for 3 months now. The battery seems to be alright, it has reduced a little but I use it everyday and I use the power cord all the time anyway.
    No it didn’t come with ATI HD 5650. I was expecting a gaming graphics card but I didn’t read up on it before I bought it, I just loved the design in the shop, it’s a very good looking slim laptop. It has Intel HD graphics. Not good enough for Sims 3. Get it on sale. It’s travel friendly

  33. TheAsa92 says:

    @sevensilver1 Hey , how’s the temperature with you ? I heard some people are complaining , and did it come with the ATI HD 5650 ? how’s the gaming performance ? sorry I asked to much , but am thinking of getting this one :)

  34. petraogjobi says:

    why did u get it for free D=

  35. steowong says:

    @Sweetstar924
    Stop being silly!!

  36. sevensilver1 says:

    I have this machine. I got it for £570 for a reduced display model in Currys.
    It’s been with me for nearly 2 months. It’s light-ish, got a moderate to strong battery life and fast performance with i3 processor. It’s surprisingly fast and can multi-task fine!

    It’ reduced in price now. In John Lewis and Currys/PC world online it’s £520.
    the refurbished machine is even cheaper at £449.
    I’m guessing it’s going to disappear shortly in 2011

  37. renzel101 says:

    I have this right now and I did some research before I bought this! It turns out really great and satisfying! No regrets after all! ACER FTW!
